Survey on IDEA within the Biology Department
Rationale:
The Biology IDEA committee is hoping to gather information to help define our relationship with the department. This includes connecting IDEA work already taking place within the department as well as evaluating where we can best serve others in their IDEA efforts. The results from last year’s climate survey suggest there is much still to be done. Ultimately, we would like to build lasting partnerships with other committees and working groups within the department, with this as the first step.
In addition, CLAS has established a Unit Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) liaison program designed to collect and distribute effective DEI programs developed across departments within CLAS. The CLAS DEI office is therefore asking for data on department-level work to figure out avenues of connection and support across the college. We have created a survey to begin the process of better serving the department, and helping inform the college’s DEI work as well.
